Privacy Policy for WeRead to Anki - XXHK Extension
Last Updated: 2024/10/15
This Privacy Policy explains how the "WeRead to Anki - XXHK" extension ("the Extension") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use it.
1. Information We Collect
- Personal Notes and Highlights: The Extension accesses your personal notes and highlights from WeChat Read (WeRead) via the publicly available WeRead API. This includes annotations, highlights, and any personal comments you've made within the WeRead platform.
- Cookies: The Extension reads cookies from the WeRead domain to authenticate your session with the WeRead API, enabling it to securely fetch your personal data.
- User Settings: The Extension stores your preferences and settings, such as target deck name, symbol pairs for tagging and highlighting, and prefix options for tags.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Data Synchronization: The collected notes and highlights are formatted and sent to your local Anki application using the AnkiConnect API running on your machine. This allows you to integrate your WeRead notes into Anki for personal study purposes.
- Personalization: User settings are used to customize the functionality of the Extension according to your preferences, enhancing your user experience.
- Our extension uses the clipboardWrite permission to enhance your WeRead experience by allowing you to copy image HTML tags directly to your clipboard with a single click. This feature is activated only when you explicitly click on an image, and we do not access your clipboard in the background or without your action. We only write to the clipboard and do not read from it or store any clipboard data, thus protecting your privacy. When an image tag is copied, we display a temporary message for transparency. This permission is integral to our extension's functionality, significantly improving efficiency for users who frequently reference WeRead images. By using our extension, you agree to this clipboard usage.
3. Data Storage and Security
- Local Processing: All data accessed by the Extension is processed locally on your device. The Extension does not transmit your data to any external servers other than the WeRead API endpoints and the local AnkiConnect API.
- Data Retention: The Extension does not store your personal notes and highlights beyond what is necessary for its immediate function. User settings are stored using Chrome's chrome.storage.sync
feature to allow synchronization across your devices if you are logged into Chrome.
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
- Third Parties: The Extension does not share, sell, or disclose your personal data to any third parties.
- External Communications: The Extension communicates only with the following domains for its operation:
and https://i.weread.qq.com/*
